Adelaide String Duo – shelter policy
We hate to be demanding, but unfortunately we do need to ask our clients to assure that we have adequate shelter from the elements, ie. sun or rain.
We have expensive instruments that are weather sensitive and we read our music from iPads which can just refuse to operate if overheated.
So here is our Shelter From the Elements guidelines, taken from our standard Performance Agreement.
**we no longer accept outdoor bookings for Two Hearts Duo or The Cello Guys
Shelter from the Elements Policy
Our instruments are extremely valuable and they may be damaged by weather, especially sun during the Summer months.
- It’s best if we can be in a generally sheltered area such as under some trees or a veranda
- The sheltered area needs to be large enough to cover both of us and our instruments for the entirety of our booking time.
- Alternatively clients often provide cafe umbrellas. We generally need two standard umbrellas to create enough shade. Your venue provider can often help with suitable shelter solutions.
- We do not perform in the rain, and cafe umbrellas do not provide adequate shelter from rain. We encourage our clients to organise access to a sheltered venue as a back-up plan. If our our instruments are in danger of rain exposure we will not perform and our fee will still need to be paid.
As you can see we’re quite serious about this point since about 70% of our engagements are outdoors. Please feel free to contact us if you’re unsure.
